Work At Home Success
Working at home is one of the top dreams of most working people. I don’t care what type of person you are or what your current income is, at any given time during your work day I am sure you have thought about how great it would be to have no boss, no deadlines, no office politics, just peace and quiet.
Well I hate to burst your bubble, but here are some facts about working from home. First off let me say that I have had the same feelings that you have, the difference is I did something about it. Financially I was able to do so, most people are not in the same situation. So you have to think about how much money it will cost, time spent building that home business, and what type of home business would suit your needs. All the little details that are often overlooked when starting a home business.
My suggestion is write your ideas down including your budget. Once you have it in front of you refine the details. Can you make a home business out of what you are doing now? How much should you charge someone for your services? Remember to keep your pricing competitive with others.
Sometimes something as simple as a hobby can become a business. I enjoy fishing and have been playing around with the idea of a site that would sell primarily fishing equipment as well as other outdoor gear. To begin I have to find affiliate sites where I can sell the products and earn a commission. I will not make the fishing gear but sell someone else’s products on a website. Research is a major step in any endeavor but especially true with online marketing. Is there even a market for this type of product? Don’t know, something I will have to find out.
I want to make something very clear; you don’t have to have a lot of money to start an Internet business. You have to have enough to be able to pay for a domain name and hosting service. You can get a domain name for around $11.00 per year and a hosting account for about $10 a month. Advertising can be free although it is a lot of time and effort. Paid advertising can get very expensive and has a learning curve for those of us who have no previous experience with advertising. So depending on how much money you have and your experience.
There is no such thing as overnight riches. It takes time to build your client base. Also working at home offers different challenges for most people. Your family is used to you being home and doing things with them. Children often don’t understand that Mom or Dad has to work from home. There is the added nuisance of people calling you to talk or just dropping by. If you have a family that depends on your then you have to sit all of them down and go over the rules of working from home. If you already have a sitter or day care, don’t change and keep the kids at home while you work. It is better for them and you to keep things the way they are for now. When you are in your “dedicated” work space, no interruptions! If they cannot cooperate or are too young to understand then arrangements have to be made. This is why I say don’t change your kids habits if they now go to a sitter or day care.
Organization from the very beginning of any business venture is the only way you will succeed. Take the steps you need to ensure work at home success.
